Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students stay in a low-income/flood zone area. Many of their parents were unable to provide school supplies or uniforms for our students. This is mostly because the majority of them have suffered from flooding during Hurricane Harvey. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I have students that are from foster homes, have recently relocated, and have special needs.
Despite their everyday challenges, they show up open and willing to learn!
The students are pretty fun to be around and remain very optimistic about life and their future. When they visited Texas A&M Galveston, they came back to school with a new focus and drive. They often try to work through the toughest problems asking for more time to solve on their own. This often makes me proud. Please help us be great!
My Project
Thesereusable write & wipe pockets will help our students practice their computational skills and math strategies. This will give them pressure free practice with immediate feedback. This will help our environment and school budget cutting down on use of paper, ink, and energy.
Saving our environment and being efficient with resources and time.
The materials requested will be used during daily workstation and group activities. Working with the Power Pen and Math Quiz cards will be a chance for students to practice and gain confidence in skills. It will also help students to see how much improvement they are making as they get better with these math skills.
