My students need math manipulatives to explain their solving skills, demonstrate their understanding of concepts, and make hands-on learning engaging.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Heines's classroom raised $227

My Students
Our school goes from Pre-K all the way to 8th grade. At such a large school funding sometimes is hard to find for each and every classroom. We are a tight knit, school community with many dedicated teachers and staff members who put their hearts and souls into our school. Our students are from all different ethnic groups as well as socioeconomic backgrounds. In my classroom, we are a 3rd and 4th grade 12.1.1 class. My students are unique with amazing personalities, and strive to do their personal best despite the varying disabilities they may have. Despite the many challenges my students face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students the foundation they need to succeed in the future.
My Project
My children need hands-on interactions with three dimensional manipulatives to help facilitate their learning of new mathematical concepts. My students need a classroom easel that they can use throughout the day as a visual guide in their learning experience. . The easel will allow directions, charts and other visuals aids to be provided to my students on a daily basis. My students will be able to come up to the easel and write questions or figure out problems to show their understanding.
The tools in this project will help my students learn in an engaging environment that will motivate them to do their best.
These new math materials will provide my children with a creative way to discuss their mathematical reasoning and thinking that enables them to find multiple ways to solve math problems, and helps them to demonstrate new knowledge and skills. With the use of new dry eraser boards my students will have an alternate way to solve math problems.
My students will utilize the math activities and centers and big easel during small group time. They will be able to work on skills based on their individual needs with the centers being leveled. Adding these centers to my classroom, will give them another resource to help them learn in my classroom. My students will benefit greatly from the math activities because it will give them the opportunity to engage in hands on learning and feel successful in their learning.
