My Project
The lack of in-person learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has had significant academic and socio-emotional effects on my students. These effects include lack of engagement, learning loss, isolation, and anxiety. In-person learning provides opportunities for students to practice emotional regulation and interpersonal skills. The absence of these opportunities has hindered their ability to manage emotions and collaborate effectively. Hands-on math manipulatives can play a vital role in mitigating these effects by enhancing engagement, understanding, and overall well-being. Hands-on activities offer opportunities for creativity and exploration. They can also help reduce stress and anxiety by providing a sense of accomplishment and boosting students' confidence in their learning abilities. These materials will provide an alternative way of learning that caters to different learning styles and helps bridge the gap created by remote learning environments.
