This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a title 1 school where 93% of my students receive free lunch. Most of my students are second language learners and come from low income families. My students are amazing children, they come to school every day ready to learn. Most of them lack the technology resources at home. My students are struggling with grade level math concepts and will greatly benefit from the math program the school will be using which is only accessible online. The program provides a great support for math concepts; however, this program is found online using a computer or any other device which we only have four in the classroom. My students are eager to be able to use the new program. The lack of resources should not hinder my students learning.
My Project
The use of Chromebooks in the classroom will help my students access online math interactive games. This math program is designed to assist students with different math level skills. My students will love the fun games while learning basic math facts. I will be able to teach a lesson and then my students will be able to access the skills taught in the lesson at their own pace. All my students will benefit from the Chromebooks especially my English as a second language learners. The donations to this program will greatly help my students understanding of basic math facts in a interactive and engaging way.
