My students need Hot Dots cards for addition, subtraction, money, telling time, fractions, and place value with a few pens.

My Students
Do you remember being a 6 year-old fresh out of the fun playtime of kindergarten? Learning a new math concept was scary and frustrating since the material was all new. My first grade students love to learn, but need the math materials that provide immediate feedback to help build independence.
My first grade classroom is comprised of 100% military dependents.
Our school has a high rate of at-risk students and a large population of special education students. By providing these math materials, you would be giving students a chance to grow academically. They are 6 and 7 year-olds who are learning the foundations of numbers, addition and subtraction, problem solving, telling time, measurement, and more. They are an amazing group of kids who attend school while their parents serve in Afghanistan, recover at the military hospital from their war-inflicted injuries, or complete their duty to our country. They often have gaps in knowledge due to their frequent mobility and I strive to fill in gaps and not waste a single minute of class time.
My Project
Hot Dots are engaging! Students will work in centers, whenever work is completed for independent practice, small groups, or during intervention time for enrichment or reteaching with these tools that provide immediate feedback. If a student is having difficulty in one area, a set of cards will allow the student to practice that skill at their own pace with immediate feedback from the pen. Students love the self-checking feature complete with lights and sound effects! The addition and subtraction facts practice centers will allow students to master the facts and increase computational speed and fluency, the telling time cards challenge them to read digital and analog clocks, money gives experience with both identification of coins and counting, and fractions practice with whole and fractional parts, just to name a few. This allows me to continue to meet their needs, help them reach their goals, and do all of this while helping another group. These can be used for years and serve many.
Donations to this request will make a tremendous impact on my students.
I wish our days were longer but since I can't change that, I use every minute to help my children succeed. I do not want lost learning time and my fast finishers can continue their learning while allowing me to meet the many varied needs in my classroom. While immediately helping my students, it will also equip them with an enriching activity to help them with lifelong math skills!
