Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These kindergartners love to be at school. They love to Learn, and they love being an important part of their community. Nearly all the students that attend our school live in low-income households.
Despite the enormous challenges they face on a daily basis, they come to school, work hard, and continually push to make everyone they love and care about proud.
This year it is especially important to focus on engaging hands on learning. While COVID19 continues to disrupt our daily lives and instructional minutes, every second we spend at school needs to be impactful.
My Project
Critical thinking skills are developed over time through a series of decisions geared toward solving specific problems. By providing these students with a multitude of tools that allow them to explore their own thinking, and give them opportunities to role play and collaborate with others, I can foster the development of critical thinking.
The math and science tools in this project will give students the opportunity to role play, count, compute, plan and build.
These tools will give students the chance to explore counting, numbers, quantities, relationships between numbers, and how those numbers help to record ideas. Students will then be able to use what they have learned about numbers and counting in dramatic play to help them plan, build, problem solve and make adjustments to their plans so they can create their own moving vehicles.
