My students need hands-on math manipulatives and materials including a set of giant magnetic place value blocks, a regrouping activity chart, a set of place value cubes, a place value activity kit, a word problem center, and a regrouping kit for subtraction.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it felt like the first time something reached out, grabbed your attention, and made you excited to learn? Help me capture my students' attention and build their content knowledge, vocabulary, and expand their ability to apply that knowledge in the area of mathematics.
The students in my classroom are amazing, fabulous, hardworking kids who all have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
In addition to having ASD, the students in my classroom are still developing functional communication systems. My classroom is a district level program designed to meet the unique learning needs of students who not only have ASD but also require intensive support to support the development of communication skills. My classroom is located within a local elementary school, this allows my students to attend P.E., computer, music, art and field trip with their peers. There are currently 5 students in my classroom ranging from 1st to 5th grade.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will be utilized during whole group, small group, and one on one instruction to teach, demonstrate and expand student understanding of specific mathematical content.
When they use the requested resources, my students will be able to engage in a variety of hands on learning activities. My students will also be able to demonstrate their knowledge and level of understanding of specific mathematical concepts through the use of hands on materials. Using these materials my students will expand and generalize their application of previously mastered basic mathematical skills. These materials will allow my students to be actively engaging in learning through hands on practice while also allowing them multiple opportunities to practice new concepts and skills using a variety of materials and manipulatives, which will allow for better generalization.
By donating to this project you will be enriching and enhancing the educational experience of not only my current students but also students for years to come.
By providing these materials to our class you will be increasing the opportunities my students have to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. In addition to this you will also be providing my students with the opportunity to activity participate in learning through the use of high quality, engaging materials.
