My Students
Do you remember completing worksheet after worksheet in math class? They're great for skill and drill, but very boring when using them to teach skills. My students need math activities that will encourage their math skills.
I teach 23 wonderful students in third grade.
Their favorite class is math, because of our rotations using centers and games. Our school is Title 1 with 73% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch. Many of my students don't have access to computers at home and their parents aren't able to help with homework.
My Project
Elapsed Time is a difficult concept to teach eight and nine-year-old kids. These visual cards will give them three different ways to solve an elapsed time problem, which will increase their understanding. The Math Skill pocket chart includes nine skills for students to practice from each of the math goals (number sense, measurement, geometry, graphing and algebra). This saves a lot of trees, because students can complete them on a dry erase board and turn the cards over to self-correct. This will also give them daily practice of math concepts already taught.
Please consider donating these projects to my students.
They will be engaged in realistic math that builds understanding without having to complete another worksheet or cut down more trees!
