This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first grade teacher with 19 curious and hard-working students who come in each morning with smiles on their faces, eager to learn. I love their willingness to try new things and learn from their mistakes. They love hands on activities that make them think outside of the box. My hope for my class is to give them resources and unique experiences to help them grow into good students and good people. Given this is only my second year teaching, my classroom is lacking many resources and games that I need to support my students.
My Project
I will use VersaTiles as part of my classroom math rotations. VersaTiles are great because they give the student a choice of answers. If their answer is not a choice, they know they need to go back and recheck their work. VersaTiles are a fun handson way to review and practice math skills. VersaTiles can be used whole group, in pairs, or independently. My students will be able to reinforce lesson objectives by working independently in math centers. Each VersaTiles math starter kit is prepared to address specific skills within each grade level, and aligns with the same objectives I will be teaching in class.
According to the ETA website, VersaTiles are "Proven to increase proficiency on high-stakes assessments up to 72%".
