My Students

My students in Castro Valley are very curious, enthusiastic, and creative. They are always eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge including virtual learning. I am very excited to meet my new incoming first grade students in a few short weeks. It is really hard knowing that I will not be able to meet them in person at first, but I can't wait to get to know each one of them online! While this year will be quite an adventure for all of us, I want to make the transition to first grade as easy as possible for both students and their parents. I plan to do this by providing an engaging, hands-on and organized learning environment that helps them thrive as they learn virtually!

My Project

As both a parent and teacher, distance learning is possible but also poses a number of challenges for my students and their parents. One thing that was difficult for the students was not having the proper math tools to use with our math curriculum. In order to learn the math concepts being taught, the students need dice, unifix cubes, dry erase markers, and lapboard erasers to use on their whiteboards that will be sent home. I would like to help both students and parents by organizing all of my students' math supplies in a convenient tool box that I have already purchased. I would then like to make sure each student has all of the necessary hands-on math materials. I believe this would significantly help students, parents, and the teacher to effectively navigate and learn in our new online learning adventure.
