Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 30 curious fourth-grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
My students love to learn! They love Science, reading, writing and conducting research on their Chromebooks. But when it comes to Math they all groan, as if they were in so much pain and despair! That is why I am requesting the math center materials listed in this project.
Math learning can be fun!
With these manipulatives and games, I will set up learning centers that my students can go to during independent work time where they will practice their math skills with games and have fun while they do it. When learning is fun and enjoyable more content is retained and comprehended. These materials will provide my students with opportunities to practice and refine important math concepts in a way that will not bring groans of despair!
