This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A math teacher is someone who inspires students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers. Many of our 450 students at my school are struggling to learn math. Everyone has had a few very difficult years; teachers and students. We deserve to work on our craft as teachers and students deserve quality instruction.
Math is my passion, and as a math leader at my school, I would love to lead professional development to help all of us grow in our practices.
With your help, I could get professional development books into my school that would be so critical to helping me and other teachers become better. Students deserve qualified and educated teachers.
With better teachers, we will see our students scores rise, but, even more importantly, student understanding of math will increase. The books I'm asking for include Lessons and Activities for Building Powerful Numeracy, Good Questions for Math Teaching: Why Ask Them and What to Ask, Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching Girls in Grades K-5, and Reimagining the Mathematics Classroom . Please help make better teachers so that students get a better and more engaging education.
