Math & Science Go Hands On!

My students need 1 set of Science Concepts Puzzles, 2 sets of Follow the Dots Math Number Stamps, 1 set of Fill in the Blank Number Stamps and 2 child friendly stamp pads.

This project is fully funded

Research shows that hands on activities are critical for students who struggle academically or behaviorally. My students need the socialization and academic skills that are lacking in many children who are economically deprived. I teach first grade at a year-round, low-income and 98% minority school in NC. Every student in our school receives free or reduced breakfast and lunch. We are experiencing major budget cuts in NC and we do not have money for extras such as materials for hands on explorations and targeted learning skills.

My students need academically stimulating activities that foster abstract and complex thinking skills. Their diverse learning styles need active learning opportunities. Science and Math are areas where they are ready to explore but are lacking many of the vocabulary and concepts needed at this age. Puzzles and active learning activities are something that they have not experienced and need so they can develop critical thinking skills. Once they learn to think instead of just do, my students can realize any goals they make for themselves.

Science concepts can easily be learned while putting together the puzzle pieces. Puzzles are fun but require thoughtful contemplation as you visually piece together the colorful puzzles that illustrate essential concepts. Math number skills and proper manuscript can develop while having the fun of stamping on newsprint! My students will have so much fun they will not realize they are learning Science concepts and vocabulary, Math number skills such as counting, addition, and subtraction. They will also learn proper manuscript writing of the numbers by using the traceable numeral stamps to show their answers.

I would absolutely love to have these resources to help my students develop the critical thinking skills and essentials concepts they need for Math and Science. By helping my class with these items you will empower their minds to grow and reach further than ever before. Please make this possible for my students.
