My students need carpets to sit and work in groups. I love the Flagship Muliply and Divide Rug and the Sidewalk Math Count Rug because we can work on number sense skill and fact practice!

My Students
Over the past 16 years, I have taught in four different schools and the students here are the most excited about learning of any school that I have ever taught. 100% of the students receive free lunch at my Title I school. My current students work the hardest and appreciate any amount of time, any amount of love, and any amount of learning that I am able to give them. I will be beginning my third year here and I hope will never leave.
I am passionate about keeping my students engaged and in maintaining their excitement!
While I cannot control the environment my students live, I do control my classroom environment. My room is a safe place for all of my students. Everyone is free to ask questions, make mistakes, and are able to be comfortable being themselves.
My Project
The Sidewalk Math Count Rug and the Multiplication and Division Rug will give my students an opportunity to work in groups on the floor. The carpets will allow everyone to spread out and have plenty of room to work. Learning to work collaboratively is important in school and in life.
The best part is both rugs will not only give us collaboration space, but they will also increase students’ number sense.
Number sense is how we understand numbers, numbers relate to one another. It help us perform mental math and math in real world situations. Number sense is critical for higher-level math skills.
