My project needs different math games and activities that cover multiple skills.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Harris's classroom raised $516
This project is fully funded
I am a 2nd grade teacher at Couch Elementary. I have taught second grade for 8 years. This is my 9th year. I teach all subjects in my classroom.
Second graders learn an array of math skills. I like to provide students with hands on math activities to introduce and build skills. Second graders love to play games and have fun. When they are engaged in learning they are more likely to retain the skills. This summer we attended a workshop titled "Worksheets Don't Grow Dendrites". We learned that the paper/pencil activities do not help our students make connections and retain information. The more they can be engaged and involved in learning the more likely they are to have a light bulb moment.
My proposal is for many different math games, activities, and manipulative's. The skills that would be covered range from addition and subtraction to measurement to problem solving. Most of the materials I am requesting are games to help the students learn basic math facts. Some of the materials are activities that the students can take back to their desk to work on while I am working with a small group or if they finish early. I am also requesting a problem solving game set.
These resources will benefit my current students as well as my future students.
