My Students

Coming to school and obtaining an education has been tough for these kids since the start of COVID-19. These students have never had a school year that didn't include school closures, mask mandates, quarantines, etc. Some of my students have returned after doing a year of online learning. Some students have missed a week or two due to quarantine. This situation is not ideal, but they are persevering and working hard to make up for lost time. They make me proud and I am lucky to be their teacher!

Our class has known since day one that we are a class family.

We have learned that all of us are different and that's what makes us so great! Many of my students come from low-income families. We all have different strengths and things we need to work on. Some are passionate about reading and writing, while others are passionate about math, science, or art. We all learn differently. I am constantly trying to make our classroom into a place that promotes learning for every child.

My Project

My students have not experienced a full school year without COVID-19. Due to school shut downs, online learning, and quarantines, my students have gaps in their learning. They are working hard and taking in so much information to be all caught up. Some students need more help than others. As mentioned, my students all have different strengths and things they need to work on. The math and ELA games and resources will provide more hands-on activities that will boost their understanding in what they need support with. The games will also encourage students to work together and improve their social skills.

My students love the days at school where they get to learn, read, and have fun!

These materials will keep my students coming back to our classroom library. They will help students be excited for math time, because they know we have hands-on and engaging lessons. My hope is that all these resources will help each child learn what they need to learn this school year. Therefore, helping them be confident and kind to themselves even after these difficult past 2 years.
