My Students
Our 4th grade consists of 2 classes of students who are in the Spanish Dual Immersion program and 2 classes that are made up of our neighborhood students. Our students are a diverse group, ranging from Special Ed to Gifted.
Meeting the needs of all of these students in Math and ELA instruction is a challenge.
They are a group of bright and driven children. They are competitive and like a challenge. Our Dual Immersion students are disciplined and have worked hard to master 2 languages, at a young age.
My Project
The Osmo Genius Kit and Fire tablet takes learning games to the next level. This kit will help us provide self-paced, leveled activities in math and language. The activities are engaging, challenging, and spark creativity. This kit provides a unique experience as it blends manipulatives with the technology of the Kindle.
Students will work with a partner to complete the challenges and advance through the activities.
For example, students may work on a multiplication activity to solve multiplication problems and then assemble the game pieces under the Kindle camera to have their solution checked. Problems get increasingly more difficult as the students advance.
These kits and devices will be a perfect small group activity that will keep our students excited and engaged in their learning.
