This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am currently teaching in a second grade ESL classroom. My Title 1 school is located in a large urban area, with all students receiving free lunch and breakfast. All of my ESL students are learning to read and write the English language, requiring books and materials at and below the second-grade level as well as math manipulatives to help with the various concepts we learn about in math. It is a very active place and includes students from many different backgrounds. These students need organized math manipulatives that are easy for them to use.
The organized manipulatives will foster independence for my second graders.
All of the materials that I currently have are stored on a shelf; however, they are difficult to organize and hard for the students to sort through. I need a creative storage option for the manipulatives so that students will be able to easily locate their materials and put them away, responsibly.
