This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a bright, resilient group of 8th graders in East New York, Brooklyn. Every day, they walk into my classroom with energy, humor, and unique perspectives that make learning math feel exciting and alive. Many of them are navigating challenges outside of school, but they show up ready to learn and eager to grow.

Healthy snacks will give my students the fuel they need to stay focused and energized, especially during double math periods.

Too often, hunger becomes a distraction that keeps them from fully engaging with challenging material like Algebra. By providing nutritious options, I can help them feel cared for and ready to learn. With their basic needs met, my students will be able to concentrate on problem-solving, collaborate on group activities, and build the confidence they need to succeed in math and beyond.
