My Students
Have you ever been stuck on a problem and just couldn't quite work it out? Sometimes it takes just one more look at a concept from another point of view for the idea to take hold. That's what this handbook will provide to my students: another way to approach a math concept.
My students are a wonderful group of diverse learners.
They approach learning in different ways, therefore they need multiple ways of accessing information. We are a school-wide Title 1 school with limited funds. The students work cooperatively, but sometimes they need an additional resource to grasp mathematical concepts.
My Project
The Math at Hand handbooks are truly a valuable resource. The procedures and problem solving strategies are explained in a colorful, engaging, and thoughtful way. Having the text to reinforce hands-on math is the best of both worlds. This resource will be a reference tool they can use throughout the year.
Many of my students are great readers, but when it comes to math they need extra supports.
These books will take that reading skill and use it to advance their skills in math. When used together, these skills will help them as they advance in school. My hope and dream for them is to feel confident in themselves so that they will aspire to continue their educations through college. Your help will make a difference to these students and for all my students to come. Thank you.
