Help me give my students scientific calculators to use as a technological aide in Financial Algebra/Algebra 2 and a velocity speed gun to assess their calculations of the speed of our Stomp Rocket project in Algebra 2.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. ARRIAGA's classroom raised $598

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are Financial Algebra and Algebra 2 students that range from grades 9-12. They are predominately Hispanic and come from low-income communities. They consist of English Learners, Special Education students, Dual Language Immersion students, student athletes and most importantly, dreamers.
They are immigrants, first generation, second generation and multi-generational Americans.
They have insecurities, and anxieties, confidence and courage. My students have pride in their school and its rich history of success and overcoming adversity. They are diverse in their similarities and look to their teachers and coaches for guidance. They are leaders and followers. They have passion and are driven. They need motivation. They fail and they achieve. They bounce back and are courageous. They are shy and outspoken. They are Tigers!
My Project
The scientific calculators can be used all year by both Financial Algebra and Algebra 2 students for calculating measures of central tendency, finding the maximum height of their stomp rockets, differentiating between essential and discretionary expenses and their mean, accessing the learning standards by removing the barrier commonly encountered by arithmetic calculations and attending to precision by checking their work and critiquing the work of others.
The speed gun will be used by Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 students in determining the speed of their "Stomp Rockets" (NASA) and comparing it to their calculated predictions in our quadratic unit.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
