My Students
We need to learn 3D shapes! The new Common Core Standards for Math have been shared with our Kindergarten teachers and beginning this year, we will be using 3D shapes in Kindergarten.
My students are very creative and love math!
They learn new ideas about math by using manipulatives that they can feel and touch. They like to create and build new things and explore mathematical ideas through the use of these manipulatives. The state of Indiana has recently introduced all teachers to the new common core math standards, standards that most of the states will be using to teach math.
My Project
Having these materials in my classroom will help me to teach my students about 3-dimensional shapes, what they look like, what their names are, and how many faces, edges, and vertices they have. These materials will also help my students to explore 3D shapes through several small group and individual centers. Having extra time to work with these shapes will ensure that they can recognize and name them when they are ready for first grade!
Our Title 1 funding has been cut in our district this year and there is no money to purchase new math materials to help us teach the new common core standards for math.
Your donation will help me and my students learn and explore 3D shapes in new and exciting ways!
