Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Kindergarten in a high-poverty school. A large percentage of my students receive free lunch, are learning English, or have special needs.
Kindergarten is an essential time for all children, especially those who have had few enriching experiences prior to beginning school. Many of my students start school without knowing how to count or think at all mathematically. Hands-on Math experiences are essential to solidifying concepts such as shapes, sorting, patterning, and addition, to name a few.
We need two sets of Early Math Learning Centers to give each child a daily opportunity to manipulate objects in order to think mathematically. These materials will be used in small groups as independent activities so that each student can strive for individual success at mastering Kindergarten Math skills. Having a concrete understanding of these basic Math concepts at this early stage will ensure their future success in Math throughout their education.
Your generous gift will make it possible for my students to become Mathematically literate and solidify their understanding of essential Math concepts. Please help these eager "Math Masters!"
