This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am so excited to welcome the incoming 3rd graders. They are an energetic bunch and truly a diverse group of young learners. However, they are also coming with a gap in math skills, a direct result of virtual learning during Covid. I seek to be prepared with manipulatives to help explain different concepts. With concrete visuals, their learning can truly be scaffolded to abstract mathematics.
The coin visuals can help to reinforce money counting, place value blocks for learning number concepts, and the anglegs and 3-D building kits can serve as a visuals for geometry.
All of these materials can be used to drive my whole group instruction, during small group lessons, or even for individual centers work.
