My Students

In my classroom, I work with students who are struggling in math. It is imperative that I use a variety of strategies and modes of teaching to reach all learners. Using math manipulatives would provide my scholars with the tools they need to be successful.

I work in an urban school district.

Because we are a fairly new charter school, there are minimum resources. Our scholars are eager to learn. My scholars are all girls in grades K-5. As the Early Intervention Specialist, I teach scholars who are struggling in reading and math to help them reach grade level and beyond. Our scholars attend longer school days and attend school on some Saturdays if they need additional support in their academics.

My Project

Manipulative materials are objects designed to represent explicitly and concretely mathematical ideas that are abstract. They have both visual and tactile appeal and can be manipulated by learners through hands-on experiences. Students use manipulatives to follow a rote learned procedure without a sense of the ways in which the apparatus reflects mathematical structures. My scholars will use these manipulatives to enhance their learning of math concepts.

This donation will change my students' lives by allowing them the opportunity to learn Math in a bigger and clearer way.

This Math Kit will allow me as the teacher to reach those students who are hands on learners to organize information and understand concepts. This will change students' lives by helping them to become more successful in math.
