This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every year, I have students who come into 6th grade with lower math skills and/or learn differently than I teach. To help them, I would love to use manipulatives. Unfortunately, I don't have any math manipulatives in my classroom.
Having math manipulative libraries and games would give my students a chance to work through the concepts using hands-on learning.
Many of my students find math hard and boring, so I my hope is to be able to mix things up by using the manipulatives as a different teaching strategy. These manipulatives will also help when working with the students that have lower math skills to help them improve.
