Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My amazing students have lower cognitive levels and have unique ways of learning and at different paces. They are gifted and valued in our school, and need extra help to achieve their learning goals.

I teach in a Title I school that is located in a rural community that serves the educational needs of over 365 students.

My program is specifically focused on the needs of 9 students in grades K-8 with moderate to severe learning disabilities. They are hard working children that deserve all that we can give them!

My Project

My students learn by doing. I want them to have every opportunity to learn and grow using different types of learning materials.

Math manipulatives can open a whole world up to children, especially those with special learning needs.

The materials that I've requested will be used in many different ways: counting, and recognizing shapes and colors. The "Numbers and Shapes Feel and Find Sensory Tubs" will provide my students the opportunity to develop their number sense, and shape and color recognition. An additional benefit is that it will improve their fine motor skills as they search for the letter and shapes in the sensory tubs. My students love to work with me and their instructional aids, rotating from one activity to the next. Using the manipulatives, my students will be able to work towards achieving their individual IEP goals.

By supporting and funding my project, contributors will have the unique opportunity to change the lives of my students. Placing new learning materials into the hands of these students, supporters will open up new ways of learning.
