My students need Rekenreks as hands-on manipulatives to help them verbalize their mathematical thinking, and they need storage bins to keep their materials organized.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager learners and love to use manipulatives to help them understand math.

I do and I understand." -- Chinese Proverb
I teach a wonderful class of kindergarten students.
They are energetic, enthusiastic, and caring. They LOVE to learn.
My students attend a Title I K-8 elementary school. They are starting their journey into learning; and, for some this is the first academic learning setting. My students are very eager to learn and no matter how difficult the task, they persevere.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of rekenreks and a storage cart. By using the rekenreks my students can explore and learn hands-on. They will have a one-to-one correspondence when they are learning how to count up to twenty. They can also use it to compare numbers. They will be able to discover number relationships and develop a variety of addition and subtraction strategies by using the rekenreks. The storage cart that I have requested will keep the materials organized for easy student access.
The rekenreks will help my students reach their math goals.
The rekenreks will help my students visualize their mathematical thinking. It will also give my students the foundation that they will need to continue on in their mathematical journey of learning.
