Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, students have been forced to learn math through a computer screen for the last two years. This has frustrated students and some have labeled math as their least favorite subject. Simply, because students have forgotten how to learn in the classroom. When encountering a challenging problem students give up because they do not understand the concept and think the lessons are pointless. Thus, creating a huge learning loss in math.
Making math engaging is my goal.
Teaching 8th-grade math concepts is difficult but creating hands-on lessons using manipulatives, brainteasers, and puzzles can really help students buy in. Encouraging students to make mistakes and persevere is my classroom motto. Math can be fun, engaging, and enriching. These tools can positively affect my students and help my classroom grow.
