This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Math manipulatives allow students to visualize abstract concepts in a unique way. The base-10 models and money manipulatives will close the gap for students who struggle with understanding place value and the value of coins. My students thrive when a skill is introduced and taught in a variety of ways.

These items are a high-impact maker in my classroom and directly drive student success.

In addition, in my classroom students use dry-erase markers, colored pencils, and whisper phones to check over their work. For example, in math, students use whiteboards and dry-erase markers to check over their answers using inverse operation. When students finish writing their essays, students color-code their essays with colored pencils to make sure the necessary components are present. Reading their essay aloud can help my students catch any mistakes and whisper phones will allow 20+ students to read and revise at their own pace.

I make it my duty to provide these items, so my students can focus on learning!

The pocket charts will aid in storing and displaying vocabulary terms, so students can refer back to them for support. Pencils are a basic everyday necessity that one can never have enough of. The stickers and motivational posters are part of my classroom management to praise those who are achieving expectations both academically and emotionally. Last but not least, to keep my students engaged, I use timers for pacing and to gauge who needs more time during the lesson.
