Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are eager and enthusiastic learners. My 3rd grade math students are motivated to succeed and need the tools to enable them to do so. Much of their experience with math so far has shown them that math is boring and difficult. My goal is to show them the opposite!

Math should be fun!

I want to show my 3rd graders that they can learn and grow and have so much fun in school every day. Having resources in my classroom that allow students to not only manipulate the math concepts but also apply them in a fun and engaging way is going to completely change their perception of math.

My Project

Many of these students are English Language Learners who do not have a lot of resources at home to support their learning every day. These manipulatives, books, and games will help to reinforce what they are experiencing each day in my classroom as well as show them the power of growth mindset and the possibilities of a STEM future for all of them, regardless of where they are coming from.

Math manipulatives will help students have a hands-on interaction with the math skills being taught and the games will help to reinforce these skills in a realistic and super fun way!

The books will not only help expose my students to a wide variety of literature and English vocabulary words, but will also show them that math is more than just a subject to pass in school. Math is a life-long skill that can be used in an infinite variety of new and exciting ways.
