This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Fun, creative, curious, spontaneous, and ready to learn are a few ways to describe my 26 kindergarten students. I teach in a Title 1 school in Gardena, CA. All of my students are English language learners and receive free breakfast and lunch.
What I love the most about my students is that despite their low socioeconomic background, they are always ready to learn and do their best each day and at all times.
I believe that all children, no matter what background they come from, deserve the best education, and are worth to have the latest materials that are out in the real world. This is why I believe my students should have the best! I am blessed to have the most amazing individuals in my classroom and have the pleasure to call them my students.
My Project
Learning comes alive when students can explore and learn using visual and hands-on manipulative tools. Learning can be transformed from knowledge to understanding if given the right tools to learn with.
My classroom is in need of some additional tools that would enrich the learning of these students and aid in their level of engagement.
The magnetic number, ten-frame builders, place value mats, and magnetic boards will allow my students to visually enhance and understand a variety of math concepts. They will become confident in math and will be able to complete independently the different math activities at their tables.
