My students are showing a great interest in math and need additional materials to help them take this curiosity to the next level and develop positive math skills to help them succeed in their educational careers!
My students are part of an early childhood program in a public school system.
The students are eligible to attend the program based on a developmental screening. The students who attend my school are considered at-risk and are typically the community of children who are performing at a below average level by third grade. They have many obstacles to prevent them from achieving educationally and I would like to make sure that a lack of appropriate learning materials is not an additional obstacle!
My Project
These materials will assist my children in increasing their abilities to count objects, sort, and create patterns by using their natural learning skill of curiosity! These learning materials will be hands-on activities to insure the students are excited and engaged with the learning experiences.
My students will enter kindergarten better prepared to participate in the math activities that are required by the state achievement goals.
These students will not need to feel guilt or shame because they are already behind their peers on the first day of school! Instead they can begin Kindergarten with pride and knowledge of math!
