Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a new teacher, this is my second year teaching. I work with children that have disabilities. I love what I do and feel it is very rewarding field that I have to chosen. I have a desire to teach and my students have inspired me in great ways. I work with students that range from mental retardation to emotionally disturbed.
The school I teach is very focused on teaching standardized academics through adapted instruction. I have faced a stumbling block when teaching my children mathematics. My children benefit from hands on manipulative's and highly directed instruction with time for successful independent work. My students become easily frustrate when they perceive that they cannot do something correctly.
In order for my students to maximize their educational experiences, I feel it is necessary to provide activities in math that are hands on, concrete, and fun. In order to do this I would like to able to provide math manipulative's for my students.
I want my students to have the best chance possible to learn. My students and I would greatly appreciate any type of assistance that can help us grow and learn. My students are going to face many difficulties in their lives and I want to make education one of the more positive, rewarding and successful part of their lives.
