This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten students are introduced to many new math concepts. Stories about these concepts, Math literature, helps open children's eyes to the math all around them in their everyday lives.

My Kindergarten students are bright, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.

They are second language learners and come from families that are struggling economically. They have few or no books at home. Our school recently opened but has no library. The teachers at our school do everything we can to bring books into the classrooms.

My Project

How better to understand dividing equal parts than to read a story about sharing cookies? Or understanding even/odd by reading about "Missing Mittens"? The 17 selected books are recommended by the Everyday Mathematics program that we use. They connect abstract concepts to concrete realities in children's lives.

My students are working hard and making great progress.

I want to do everything I can to provide them with the materials that will help them along their way to academic success. Please help me support them. Our combined efforts make a difference!
