Math Literacy

Help me give my students items like wooden peg puzzles and floor puzzles for math manipulates to help them learn everyday math concepts.

My Project

As adults we may not think about the fact that everyday things we do are related to math: from weighing, to money, and even telling the time.

I am requesting math manipulatives to help introduce math concepts that are part of our everyday lives.

We will use the math manipulatives during small group time. Students will work alone or in pairs to practice concepts such as counting money, sorting and pattern making, and telling time.

My students all come from low-income families and have faced many hardships and trauma in their lives already at a young age. Many of their parents are not able to provide them with educational opportunities at home so it is important to give them the head start they need.
