Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need math learning centers. Budget cuts and larger class sizes, make it more difficult to obtain enrichment materials to supplement the core programs. I also find that I need to be more creative with my time in order to provide the individualized attention that many of my students need.
I teach at a Title I school in Southern California.
My class consists of 21 enthusiastic kindergarteners. Even though my students already face many challenges, they display a positive attitude and are eager to learn. They especially enjoy hands-on activities and interacting with their classmates.
My Project
Kindergarten students need to learn numbers, shapes, patterns, measurement, addition, and subtraction. In an effort to assist my students master these concepts, I would like to make available to them a series of math learning centers. To set up these centers, I am requesting folder games and manipulatives that are engaging and easy to use so that the students can use them to practice basic math skills.
Having the children work independently will allow me to target those students who may need a little more attention and to provide advanced learners opportunities to challenge themselves.
