Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 5th grade classroom is 80% free-reduced lunch and only one student passed the 4th grade evaluation at the beginning of this year.
The students are very interested in learning math this year and they have a strong need to learn math. The students have all been selected to be part of the I Have a Dream Foundation. This means that when they graduate from high school, they have four years of college paid for. I need to make sure they have the math skills to be able to be prepared for algebra and then graduate from high school so they can access these funds.
I am teaching math for 2 hours a day to get them up to grade level. For that reason, I would like to have some educational math games they can play at the end of math time to help them stay motivated.
Your help will ensure that these students have the chance they deserve to both learn and enjoy mathematics.
