Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, energetic & excited about learning math. They were determined & persevered for the last third of their third grade year despite the challenges & uncertainty of the COVID global pandemic.

Math is so much more than just finding an answer--it's about collaborating with our fellow mathematicians, making our thinking visible and sharing our thoughts.

As teachers & students, we learned what our kids needed to be successful learners during remote learning. In the fall we'll be participating in blended learning--a hybrid of in person & remote. In order to set our kids up for success, they need the necessary resources to mirror the classroom at home.

So many children are growing up and saying "I'm not a math person" because they struggled to make sense of their learning at a young age. To combat this, we want to develop a sense of love and engagement in mathematics so our students grow up LOVING math and fulfill their potential as engineers, mathematicians, scientists, artists and anything else they can imagine.

My Project

Math is so much more than just finding an answer--it's about collaborating with our fellow mathematicians, making our thinking visible and sharing our thoughts.

Math isn't just in our text books, but everywhere in the world around us.

In order to be successful, we need to see what we are learning.

The resources for this project will be to create at-home math kits for students to use at home during blended learning.
