This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help our students spend their time learning and practicing math, instead of copying practice problems off the board! When time is spent copying problems and assignments off the board, it is time students could be using to learn and review, preparing themselves for graduation and college.

Our school is a new high school in a quickly growing area of Arizona.

Many of our students dream of going to college, or being the first in their family to graduate high school. Our community as a whole is excited to have our first high school right in the community, instead of sending them to neighboring high schools as we have done in the past. The students in our school are eager to learn, despite the challenges that many have faced. The economy has hit our community hard, but that has not stopped our school.

My Project

A math class without a textbook? Without any resources? That was our school only four years ago. Since then, we have made great strides academically. The students are extremely motivated, and as teachers and community members, we are doing everything in our power to help them be successful. After reviewing data this summer, we recognized that one area of need students have is continuous review of math concepts. Students learn one topic, and as we move onto a new one, the old material is forgotten. This computer software will enable teachers to create an infinite amount of worksheets for students that will provide a continuous review of new and old material. With continuous review, both in the classroom and for homework, students will improve their mathematical skills, moving towards graduation and passing scores on the AIMS test required for graduation.

Improved grades.

A high school diploma - the ticket to higher education. That's what this software will mean to students. Many of our students struggle in math. Continuous review is going to help strengthen their skills and help students reach graduation. If you help us provide the software, the students and teachers will do the rest. We'll help create successful contributing leaders of society.
