My Students
"The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics."--Paul Halmos
I teach math and science enrichment to students in grades kindergarten through fifth.
Our school is a Title 1 school in Michigan. Many of my students are English Language Learners who have immigrated to the United States. Over 94% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced price lunch. The combination of limited language and low income classifies my students as at-risk students. Despite all that, they are still children who have the desire to learn.
My Project
I am requesting some math board games, math file folder games and math software to use during interactive math workshop. Teaching enrichment is a way for me to supplement and assist classroom teachers with math and science instruction. I want to be able to provide my students with fun, interactive ways to emphasize some of the same concepts they are learning in their classrooms.
Through your support, my students will be able to use these materials to engage in hands-on activities to enhance their math skills.
The ultimate goal of course, is to increase student achievement. It will be through the use of play and the support of these manipulatives that my students will reinforce the math concepts that are taught at their grade level.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
