My Students

We have been lucky enough to receive a number of items from Donors Choose. After our last shipment, it was my students who asked "What about Math?" They are enjoying all of our technology and reading materials, but now want to be able to have just as much fun while they are learning math.

My school is in a low-income area with a high ESOL population.

I specifically teach 2nd grade with ESOL students who are beginners, Special Ed students who don't know their numbers, and Regular Ed students on various math levels from Kindergarten level to 3rd grade. All of my students want to learn and have fun doing it, but, are getting bored with the same kind of activities they have been using this year.

My Project

Having new and different activities to help students in various skills not only helps those in need, but also allows them to have "educational fun." The items in my cart were chosen by the students in my class. Since they were the ones who asked for math activities I figured, what's better than to get what interests them. The activity stations cover the various Common Core Standards required by our state. Using the different stations chosen by the children will enhance their learning in telling time, money, operations, measurement, understanding place value, fractions and geometry.

My students need Math Activity Stations to help supplement learning following the Core Curriculum.

Students will become active participants in their own learning, in a community of learners and my classroom will become more student-driven rather than teacher-driven. Most importantly, they will have fun in the process. Please help us receive these new activities for our class. I appreciate your time, and hope you can help our future leaders
