My Students
I teach a great bunch of second graders in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in northeast Georgia. Our school houses only first and second grades and it is full of energy!
My students are an active group of kids.
The gifted second graders come to my room for mathematics and enrichment classes each day. For mathematics we work on our state math standards. During our enrichment time we work on projects to help the students develop and improve their problem solving skills, critical thinking, research skills, leadership and creativity.
My Project
The students challenge me daily to find unique methods and materials to teach them math concepts that go deeper than our state's math frameworks. Having the 3Doodlers will help me provide my students with a hands-on way to create geometric figures.
Students often confuse the shape names and having a hands-on way to experience creating the shapes will give them a method to remember.
Students will be able to make a connection between the shape, the number of sides and the number of vertices as they draw the shape with the 3Doodlers.
We will also use the 3Doodlers during our gifted enrichment time. As we work on problem solving and critical thinking skills, we will use the 3Doodlers to bring inventions to life. After drawing the plan for their invention on paper, students will be able to create their invention using the 3Doodlers.
