My Project
The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected education in ways no one could have predicted. The students in my district remained in virtual learning for over a year and during that time a lot of learning was lost.
Now that students are back in person, we need to make the most of every moment they are in the classroom!
Math intervention groups are one of the ways we are helping students get caught up to where they need to be. I have requested a variety of supplies that will help me run these daily intervention groups with students in grades K-8.
I have mainly asked for different types of math manipulatives. These provide students with great visuals and hands on learning opportunities to make math less abstract. For example, the magnetic base 10 blocks can help students learn numbers and how to add and subtract within 10. I have also asked for large magnetic graph paper, which will help when working with older students. It is a great tool to use to model how to graph ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. I chose to ask for different types of chart paper and a magnetic easel that can be used when working with a small group of students at a table. They are more functional in this smaller setting. The 10 sided dice will be used in a game called Multiplication Squares, which helps students develop fact fluency. I chose a variety of items that will help students develop a better understanding of math in grades K-8. All of these materials will make a huge difference for students learning math.
