This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently teach at a school-wide Title I school, and as such, all children receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the lack of resources and challenges students face on a daily basis, they are an energetic and enthusiastic group. They come to school each day eager to learn new things and apply the skills they have been taught. Due to limited funding, certain materials and resources necessary to enhance the curriculum are not readily available to them.
My Project
Help my students create stickers and decals for their incentives/prizes. In the spirit of financial literacy, I am having my students exchange their paper money (earned in class) for prizes. One of the things that incentivizes the students are decals and stickers. With these supplies we will be able to create custom stickers and decals (using our existing Silhouette machine) for the students to "purchase." Students will need to use their computational skills to figure out how much money they need to earn in order to purchase their desired prize.
