This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic, loving, hardworking students like most middle school students. They come from many different backgrounds and most qualify for free or reduced-cost lunch. Many of my students are very exited to come to school because of the opportunities that they are given in their elective classes. Most of the students do not have the resources at home to do extracurricular activities.

When given the opportunity to show their creative side my students thrive!

They love to use their imaginations and create because it shows who they are as an individual. Middle school is definitely a time that they want to shine.

My Project

These magazines will bring real world current events into my math classroom. So many times as we are learning middle school math students will ask when will I ever use this. These magazines give real word situations where math is essential to figure out what is going on. With magazines like these I am able to integrate, math, english, science and often times art into one lesson. This saves time while building valuable skills that my students need. These magazines will also be the spark that reluctant learners need to be able to engage in the lesson and master the standards. I can’t wait to build these into my group work and stations.
