This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard working and optimistic about the future. Our school strives to promote and cultivate a college-ready mindset in every student because only a quarter of of my students report having a family member attend college.
If you ask my students what motivates them to succeed, they would talk about their family.
Despite facing many challenges, my students come to school ready to learn and be their best in order to make themselves, their family, and their community proud. Every day I am humbled that I get to be their teacher because they recognize the power of education.
My Project
I have chosen a pack of desks that can be used in multiple ways through the learning process. For example, students can sit individually, in pairs, or in groups. These desks will help students learn from one another as they discuss math ideas, share strategies, and argue over their work.
Working in a team is a skill every student needs, and they need to learn it in school.
These requested desks will allow my students to feel included in a group, regardless of their ability. Working as part of a team sends the message that every student has something to learn and contribute, and it make the learning process so much more fun.
