This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Math rotations are a part of our daily schedule in my fourth grade classroom. Each day, students rotate through Math WIN centers. During this time, I am able to target specific students' needs in small groups while the rest of the students practice their skills at other stations. Our school encourages us to have four rotations: Meet with Teacher, At Your Seat, Technology, and Hands-On.
These materials would help me provide students with high-interest activities as part of our Hands-On Math WIN rotation.
I would select from these materials each week to find a game or activity that correlates with the skill being learned in class.
My goal for this project is to empower students to take accountability for their work during Math WIN time by providing them with fun practice activities to practice and reinforce their Math skills. The set of 8 Math in a Flash Cans each comes with 25 activities related to a specific skill. The activities also come with all the manipulatives necessary to complete them as well as an answer key so students can be independent learners.
The Bridge the Gap kit comes with problems for fourth-grade Math skills as well as cards for the prerequisite skills necessary to complete those problems. This resource could help me go back and review areas of struggle when teaching a new skill. The two daily math practice journals would be great morning work activities for my students.
My students are eager learners who greatly benefit from hands-on activities like these. These materials will help us get the most out of our Math small group rotations and keep students engaged and accountable for their work when they are not at the Meet the Teacher rotation.
