Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the third grade teacher of 20 wonderful students. It is a pleasure to have children like my students in my class. They are smart, funny, unique, and very friendly.
My students are showing a lot of interest in learning the times tables. I really want to take advantage of their interest and help them by providing them materials such as flash cards and math hide slides to take home to practice. The math hide slides are in the shape of a dog bone. In them, they have written a multiplication fact. With the slide, they can hide a factor or the product.
I need flash cards and the multiplication hide slides to create a take home multiplication center. Students will decide what table they'll want to study. So, I will have a set of flash cards that the students need, and they will check it out. The flash cards will be divided by times tables. For example, all the sevens are going to be in a Ziploc bag. I am going to attach a pocket with an index card to the bag. They will write their names and dates on the index card, and leave it back in the classroom in another pocket labeled 7. That way I know who has what. Once they return what they took home, children will be able to check out another bag with multiplication facts or math hide slides.
My students are my inspiration. I really hope that you can help me create our Math in a Flash take home centers, because my students will really learn the times tables at their own pace in a fun a relaxed manner. They will also learn the responsibility to care for class supplies by making sure they return and sign them in and out.
Thank you, and I really hope that you can help me realize this very small dream with a big result.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
