This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The COVID-19 school closures had long lasting effects on learning. Many of the foundational skills needed for math understanding were incomplete. We have many students that struggle with place value understandings for addition, subtraction, and multiplication. I will use the new seating, white boards, and fraction and place value manipulatives during small group instruction. We will use the materials to reinforce place value concepts during problem solving. Having hands-on tools will help students build a conceptual understanding, and then we will work to transfer those skills into abstract problem solving.
